Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $675,000 to date which puts our total fund at over $2.3 million, a record amount of fundraising for ALD.

Early in the year, we focused heavily on fundraising and media outreach to build momentum. This summer, we shifted toward developing a robust network in the ALD and rare disease research community, laying the groundwork for smart, high-impact funding decisions.

Now, we enter the phase of seeing our funding be put to work and begin fundraising for the next round of research grants in 2026.

After engaging with all researchers at the ALD Connect conference, we made the exciting decision to expand our support to all six ALD Connect Centers of Excellence.

In July 2025, we launched a call for research grant proposals and received over 25 submissions requesting more than $2.5 million in funding. We have negotiated grant agreements that include safeguards, reporting requirements, and commitments to collaboration.

We are now finalizing our first round of grant decisions and, because of you, will be able to fund 14 projects with over $1.2 million in total support over the next two years.

These projects represent the most promising ideas from across the ALD research community and each reflects our mission to move beyond incremental knowledge and toward real treatments and cures.

To our knowledge, this is the largest single amount of funding ever distributed to the ALD research community — all thanks to you.
